Black Library Open Submission: I am Seraphon

Image
Last chance for the Black Library Open Submissions! Head over to Warhammer Community now to maybe start your (very niche!) writing career! I've posted a Warhammer 40,000 story here before, about a Fallen Dark Angel's life on a back water planet, and it went over a huge amount of revisions thanks to feedback from readers. I'll be posting the final story, the one I submitted to Black Library, later this week. I submitted another story tonight as well, a story I wrote in the Age of Sigmar setting. I've been looking at Seraphon Carnosaurs for a while now, trying to convince myself I don't want one (rather unsuccessfully too). I think the new Lizardmen are a wonderful feat of imagination, being remembered warriors from the old Warhammer Fantasy, made real again by celestial magic. It's an idea wholly unique to Warhammer, forged by creators trying to justify Aztec dinosaurs in the new game universe without the jungles they could have evolved in. How else wil...

The Long Plot of the Duardin Reveal Part 2

Image
So let's jump into matching up rumour engine pictures with reveals, and see where this whole story begins. First the obvious one: This was revealed to be a part of a larger piece of work showing a greater demon in mid-sky battle with a Kharadron air-ship. Not a mecha suit like I hoped, but of equal steampunk silly-awesomeness. This piece was one of the first rumour engine picture to released:  We can now identify this as anything from the Skyriggers to any of the ships. What bugs me about it is tat I can't find any exact matches in the pictures below. Either the bits are just on the other side of the models, or there are more minis waiting to be revealed. See for yourself if there's anything I've missed. Here's an easy one!  What I thought may have been an exodite spear turns out to be a Duardin boat hook. The next ones are all frustratingly close to being part of the reveal, but not identified in the models seen:...

BREAKING: The Long Plot of the Duardin Reveal Part 1

Image
*Glee!* So the new Duardin have dropped, and damnned if they refused to hit the ground! The traditionally under-mountain Dwarfs in their halls of stone have turned into metal clad sky-pirates, riding sky boats, and even having jump troops! This is the first part of a double post, and gives the initial impressions of the models and the reveal video. The second post will look at what clues we had leading up to this reveal. Whilst I'm still holding out hope for dwarven mecha, I'm more than happy to throw money at Games Workshop for these new models (pictured below). Arkanaut Ironclad - The big ship Arkanaut Frigate - The middle ship Grundstok Gunhauler - The fighter jet? The ships look straight out of steampunk fantasies, and still retain a bit of their old dwarven flair. We haven't seen the points for these ships, but I wonder if we can expect to see these as flotillas rather than center-piece models. These are probably the most unique of the ...

Rumour: Duardin plot thickens...

Image
The rumour engine has just cranked out (somewhat ironically) this cog: Whilst it could well be part of any machine, either 40K or Age of Sigmar, the bolted panel in the bottom right corner is eerily similar to other things we've seen: Obviously they're just rivets or bolts, but the theme here is exposed machinery. Most factions prefer armour cladding, and there's only one or two factions that show this kind of access to the inner workings. One of those would be the Adeptus Mechanicus, but the issue here is that it doesn't look alien enough to be them. AdMech tend to the more creepy version of machinery. We also have the below to consider, with that dwarf showing his deep love of cogs. There's also this... I think I was mistaken when I said this was part of an AdMech character. It could be a Duardin construct. If so, Games Workshop marketing have been playing a long game indeed... Again, note the quite obvious bolting and riveting o...

Age of Sigmar Duardin spotted!

Now this is evidence ! Look at that gun toting beardy lad! So, lets match it up to the pistol from before: Not a huge amount of correlation though. Without seeing the barrel of the pistol we can't draw much in the way of stylistic similarities. However, the bolting on this looks similar to the above picture. So yay! Proper dwarves back in Age of Sigmar! Hopefully. Also, see those elven looking types in the background? Looks very much like a Corsair and a Swordmaster to me! Until next time! Thanks for reading.
