Walker in Progress: Mu'Gulath Bay Riptide

Image
I've been rammed with work on my third job (teacher, blogger and now scarf retailer... click the middle picture between Wayland Games and Element games), so I only really have time to post up this work in progress. Dual guns... this is the fun you can have with magnets There isn't actually a coour scheme for the T'au of Mu'gulath Bay. The artists and writers did a great job showing the T'au and Vior'la defenders, and eventually Farsight and his crimson horde, but no one shows the sept they were defending. Or at least if that's the case, I haven't seen it. The most I have to go on is this: From the 7th Edition codex This just shows a blue sept badge. I've taken this blue and contrasted it with the the standard T'au ochre, to show their transitional move from colony to fully fledged sept. Well, before it got firebombed back to nothing. The cadre I'm collecting lacked any real character before, but now I've reformed them ...

Brother Fett, The Bounty Hunter Space Marine

Image
Yay! We just passed 100,000 page views! Thank you all for making that possible! To show my gratitude, here's the promised picture of my Space Marine Primaris Reiver work in progress; Brother Fett: Brother Fett, Bounty Hunter Primaris Space Marine The Bounty Hunters go after wanted individuals, and bring them back... Dead or Alive.  Nothing but death stops them, and they view the end of enforcing the law to justify any means. Nos es Lex! Tabletop Engineer asked me about the hazard stripes on his knees. Well, hazard stripes are for dangerous surfaces and weapons. Brother Fett uses anything at his disposal... What do you think Boba? "Where's my cheque?" Er... in the mail. Until next time. Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment. Chapter Tactics for Lesser Known Chapters

Image
The chapter tactic reveal over at Warhammer Community yesterday gave a little context for giving us the other chapter tactics (which I'm sure had nothing to do with the leak over on Bolter and Chainsword!). Sarah, the writer, talked about potential Chapter Tactics for some of the other Chapters out there, and what you could use for Your Dudes. For those who don't know, the concept of Your Dudes is the whole reason why Warhammer is great in the first place. Even though the fluff is great for established canon, you are encouraged from day 1 to put your own spin on it. Yes, you may be fielding Dark Angels , but yours is the under-dog 5th Company led by your own Captain Moody McPlasmaPistol. You may even have your own successor Chapter called the Not-Cyphers, who specialise in dual-wielding pistols. Either way, you're going to put your own ideas on it... just as I have done with my Space Marine Field Police . What the Sarah's post does is suggest some Tactics for ot...

Dark Imperium: Primaris Space Marines Field Police

Image
The first of the Primaris Field Police squads are done. Commissioned by Guilliman and the current Chapter Masters to maintain law and order amongst the besieged Imperium, these Primaris Marines have a clear mandate that stretches them beyond mere Founding Chapter loyalties. Their mission is simple; ensure the Emperor's Laws are upheld. Whether these are broken by citizens, Space Marines or even the new Primaris Marines, no one is above the law. Indeed, to maintain their objectivity, the gene-seed origin of this chapter is known only to Guilliman and the other Chapter Masters. Thus no chapter can plead with them for clemency based on shared genetics. Not that they are beyond mercy. For them is the constant debate between the Letter and Spirit of The Law. For a set of laws as expansive as the Imperium's, such interpretation is necessary. Thus, when a citizen steals bread to feed his family, the Judge Veterans of the chapter can step in to grant mercy. And their judg...

Dark Imperium: Nurgle's Gardeners Death Guard

Image
The quick and easy Plague Marines I posted about earlier are complete. These are the Nurgle's Gardeners. Whilst they may not have as bone chilling name as other Death Guard, their reputation is perhaps more terrifying. Not simple content with waging war in Nurgle's name, their goal is to create wondrous farms and gardens where Nurgle's creatures may grow. As soon as they make planet fall, poxes and airborne diseases are released into the atmosphere, in the hope that they will take root in the inhabitants there and prosper. The Gardeners will emerge from their ships, investigating population centers and carefully selecting organisms for host bodies. Sometimes these organisms will resist and attempt to struggle against their tender care, but the Gardeners simply smile and set to gently removing these obstacles with bolter and plague knife. Slowly, and inexorably, the planet and inhabitants succumb to their good natured invasions and infections, until peace is sp...

40K 8th Edition Galaxy Map Explained: Update

Image
Galaxy map taken from Warhammer Community I've been through the majority of this map, but the Games Workshop Marketing unveiled a bit more information about this yesterday. I also got a good lore tip from an anonymous commenter, which I'll post below. First the update. Rather than the Cursed Ulcer, as Cicatrix Maledcitum translates to*, Games Workshop has rather wisely gone for the more legendary sounding Great Rift. They've confirmed my observations about the Imperium being cut in half, with some ominous hints at the galaxy being a very bad place on the Imperium Nhilus side. Or at least more bad than usual. There are some hints as to it's origins. Whilst  good chunk of the expansion to the West is due to Cadia falling, and Magnus doing his magic on Fenris, we also have hints that the war in the Damocles Gulf, as talked about it Kayon and Montka, contributed to the growth in the East. A neat way to make the Tau conflict relevant, ...

BREAKING NEWS: New 8th Edition Trailer

Image
Re-posted without comment because it's late... Oh... okay. Well this somewhat hints at the Starter Box set that may be coming out. Space Marines are there (duh), but we may be getting Death Guard as the "bad guy" army in it. Undoubtedly it will be a Chaos faction, but despite the hints at Nurgle's influence, they'll probably play it safe with a generic Chaos army like in Dark Vengeance. Also... little hint at a new looking Chaos Terminator with a buzz-saw axe. Looks like Chaos are taking weapon design tips from the orks! Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment. Sharing this with your friends, and following me on Twitter , Facebook or Google+ would also be hugely appreciated. If you have anything you want me to look at, let me know in the comments below. I'll probably be able to write an article about that topic within a day! If you really love what I do here, you...

BREAKING NEWS: New galaxy map for 40K explained!

Image
Okay... so it looks like the entire galaxy has been ripped a brand new rectum: Taken from Warhammer Community Well, I say rectum, but really an ulcer. The big band of purple stretch across and staining the galaxy is called the CICATRIX MALEDICTUM. Running that through a translator reads THE CURSED ULCER. Not going to lie, cicatrix sounds more intimidating. (10/05/2017 Edit: Anonymous commenter corrected me on this. Translates more effectively to CURSED GASH/SCAR, but now we know it's referred to as THE GREAT RIFT .) It appears as though Magnus did way more to advance the plot than we dreamed possible. With that thin band of what we can only assume to be warp rupture (because of the skulls and teeth trying to get out...), the Eye of Terror is now linked up to The Maelstrom, and some massive big black hole of scariness at the center of the galaxy. As a physicist, I know we currently believe there to be a black hole at the center of every galaxy. I will now reveal...

The Long Plot of the Duardin Reveal Part 2

Image
So let's jump into matching up rumour engine pictures with reveals, and see where this whole story begins. First the obvious one: This was revealed to be a part of a larger piece of work showing a greater demon in mid-sky battle with a Kharadron air-ship. Not a mecha suit like I hoped, but of equal steampunk silly-awesomeness. This piece was one of the first rumour engine picture to released:  We can now identify this as anything from the Skyriggers to any of the ships. What bugs me about it is tat I can't find any exact matches in the pictures below. Either the bits are just on the other side of the models, or there are more minis waiting to be revealed. See for yourself if there's anything I've missed. Here's an easy one!  What I thought may have been an exodite spear turns out to be a Duardin boat hook. The next ones are all frustratingly close to being part of the reveal, but not identified in the models seen:...

BREAKING: The Long Plot of the Duardin Reveal Part 1

Image
*Glee!* So the new Duardin have dropped, and damnned if they refused to hit the ground! The traditionally under-mountain Dwarfs in their halls of stone have turned into metal clad sky-pirates, riding sky boats, and even having jump troops! This is the first part of a double post, and gives the initial impressions of the models and the reveal video. The second post will look at what clues we had leading up to this reveal. Whilst I'm still holding out hope for dwarven mecha, I'm more than happy to throw money at Games Workshop for these new models (pictured below). Arkanaut Ironclad - The big ship Arkanaut Frigate - The middle ship Grundstok Gunhauler - The fighter jet? The ships look straight out of steampunk fantasies, and still retain a bit of their old dwarven flair. We haven't seen the points for these ships, but I wonder if we can expect to see these as flotillas rather than center-piece models. These are probably the most unique of the ...
