Magnus the Red, the True Viking Primarch

Image
This is half a thought I had about Magnus the Red being more of a Viking Primarch than Leman Russ. I never quite had time to research the idea, but I thought I'd share the half-finished idea with you all now for discussion. Why? Because it's blog post day, I still have 5 hours of school work to do and it's already 9pm. Enjoy the idea, and see if you can flesh it out a bit more than I have! Whilst everyone considers Leman Russ to be the quintessential Viking primarch due to his reputation fo heavy drinking and general combat demeanour (a fancy way of saying he likes to hit stuff with a sword), Magnus is actually a much better candidate to represent the Norse in 40K. You might be thinking that he much more clearly represents the Egyptians. Well, there's a difference between visual aesthetic and plot themes. Everything about Magnus hints at a far more Northerly inspiration than Ra or others in the Egyptian pantheon. In fact... he's Odin. Let...

Thousand Sons Exalted Sorcerers Gallery

It's been a very full on week, but we're finally through to Sunday. I know today is Saturday, but for me the next day starts when the last boarders door closes... baring any late night bed flipping. By the way, if you are a boarding student, don't flip your friend's bed. It's a pain, and we already know you've done it before you've even walked into the room to do it. In between shifts at the house at teaching lessons, I finally managed to finish off my Three Musketeers: They've all been converted to ride Discs of Tzeetnch. The only problem is, is that they're no longer the psychic power houses they were in 7th Edition. I'll need to try them out as a small force, but I don't think they'll do enough damage to make them viable. But they were always like that. Aramis, Athos, Porthos and D'Artagnan  have always been about taking on ridiculous odds and coming out on top! Until next time. Thanks for reading. If you l...

Chaos Space Marines Legions Summary and Analysis Part 1

Image
Hot off the heels of last week's Codex Space Marines, Codex Chaos Space Marines is already on it's way (I heard pre-orders on 4th August in the shop last weekend, but that seems to not be accurate). This week Warhammer Community has been dropping Legion Tactics on us... and they're shaping up to be very powerful indeed! Chaos Undivided by Fernoll Before we go into each individual legion, some bits and pieces: Possessed have gained a wound . Power fists have dropped from 20 to 12 points . Cult marines get access to Legion Traits   In this we'll be looking at the Emperor's Children, the Iron Warriors, the Night Lords, and the World Eaters. I also have a little on today's Black Legion reveal, but a fuller break down will be done next week. Emperor's Children The Emperor's Children, whilst having embarrassingly dated models, have been a powerful force on the table top in nearly all their incarnations. They are literally Space Marines on ste...

Fate of Konor: Astramis Battle Report

Image
No word on the winner at my local shop yet This, is Astramis.  Astramis is home to a key star port for the Konor system, named for Guilliman's adoptive father on Macragge. A large hive world, this represents a large population centre in Ultramar. This is where Chaos has landed first, and where Guilliman has arrived to defend his home. This is where the Mu'gulath Bay Avengers have come to seek revenge for their burned home world: Avengers assemble! Having donned the blue of T'au blood, these are grim faced and determined soldiers. Their leader, the yet-to-be named Ethereal, holds aloft the new symbol for Mu'Gulath Bay... a single blue jewel wreathed in orange flame. At once both sombre about their history and hopeful for the bright future they won defending their home, they look across the battlefield to see who else has landed. That guy in the back is a lictor Really big gun Huge biomechanical monstrostiies roamed to shattered ...

BREAKING NEWS: 8th Edition FAQ and Errata Released!!

Image
And here I thought I was going to have nothing new to post about for 8th Edition. The FAQ is already up over at Warhammer Community . New FAQ artwork It's genuinely surprising that we have an FAQ out so early, but this is New Games Workshop in action. One might question why a new FAQ was needed so early after release, but very few games try to re-write every single one of their factions in one go. Well, except Games Workshop with Age of Sigmar, but they coped with that with the infamous special rules where you had to twirl your moustache, or got bonus attacks if your opponent had a pet. As in a real pet, not on the table top. It was not well received. On to the FAQs.I haven't had time to go through in detail, but I've given you some observations that have leapt out at me in each one. Link here Important extra rule for the Death Guard here, giving them the universal Traitor Marine rule they have in the Index. Link here The immediate FAQ point tha...
