The New Intercessor Veterans Unit Explained! Analysis of their abilities and more

Image
You know, I think Eldar players have every right to be annoyed right now... the Imperium keeps on nicking their stuff. Let me explain... Hello chaps and chapettes, we're back in the classroom to discuss the Eldarification of the Space Marines, and what we can look forward to from the new Intercessor Veterans!  I'm only half joking about the Imperium nicking Eldar ideas and applying it to new models. Primaris Aspect Marines was a joke way back in the beginning of 8th Edition, and I even pointed out some of the similarities (much to the casual disgust of the internet). And I can't be the only one who is marvelling at the new AdMech Swooping Hawk: I'm certainly not comparing the aesthetic of these guys to what's come before, but I think we can definitely draw some parallels to an aeldari unit.  You probably know which one. Yeah that one. If you didn't know already: Now clearly the new Primaris aren't dead souls locked inside tough robot constructs, but I am g...

Aeldar Ranger/Guardian Conversion Gallery

Image
Just a short posy on complete projects before I start on the Blood Angels Beginners guide. Here are the completed Aeldar/Eldar Ranger/Guardian conversions I started a while ago. Rather than model ranger cloaks, I've painted on cloaking fields. Each ranger is in the process of dropping or putting on their field, so the orange and blue of my Craftworld is still there. The model affected by the field is my usual Mechanicus Standard Grey, Nuln Oil, Celestra Grey and Seraphim Sepia combo that I use on all my bases. I'm quite pleased with the camo cloak effect, despite my sloppy painting. The line betwen the two colours was a simple palette; a thick line of watered down Caledor Sky, a thinner line of Baharroth Blue, and a few splodges of White Scar. Looks good! I think there's a little too much orange on the unit as a whole, but otherwise I'm quite pleased with the conversion. Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and ...

Shattered Spear, An Aeldari/Grey Knights Battle Report

Image
Well... that didn't go according to plan. An exercise in not being too over confident in your own abilities, but at the same time a moment of pride as a student finally learns his army. This was a battle I had with a student in the club, and I'm really pleased with the result in a number of ways! However, I'm also now acutely aware of problems in my army list building. The Aeldar Craftworld Wild Riders of the Bright Spear flotilla faced against a small force of the Emperor's Hammer, the Grey Knights of Titan. Here are the forces: The Bright Spear Wild Riders Outrider Detachment (Aeldar Craftworld) Craftworld Attribute: Saim-Hann Wild Host (Re-roll Charges, Bikers can move and shoot Heavy Weapons without penalty) HQ Autarch Skyrunner: Laser Lance (Nova Lance), Twin-linked Shuriken Catapult [108 pts] Farseer Skyrunner: Singing Spear, Twin-linked Shuriken Catapult Psyker: Doom, Fortune, Smite [140 pts] Troops Ranger Squad: 5 Rangers with Long...

Aeldari New Year: Shining Spear Conversion Gallery

Image
Just a quick one because my computer has decided to start ignoring its USB ports (and thus I can't get past the log in screen). These are my Shining Spear Aspect Warriors, made from Reaver Jet bikes and some old High Elf spear men kits. No one pay attention to the drooping spear... the glue hasn't set yet... Craftworld Aeldar 500 Point Starter List, The Eldar Wild Riders

Image
Do you like lightning fast armies? Do you love having the most powerful guns? Do you still want to hit hard in close combat too? Well read on, my fellow space elf players. Read on. This is perhaps the least beginner collection friendly army I've ever written, so calling it a Starter list is a stretch at best. I drew the line at calling it Beginner, simply because of the difficulty in putting the models together, but I think it's a neat way to learn the basics of a the Eldar glass canon style. Typically what can trip Aeldar players up is deployment. Since every unit in an Aeldar army is quite specialised, and with relatively short range weaponry, botching your deployment can leave your Wraithguard running uselessly across the battlefield and your Fire Dragons meeting a sticky end from a Genestealer rush. This army side steps all of that with stupid fast units, and anything slow having non-standard deployments. Rules you need to know (and love): Battle Focus - Th...

Aeldari New Year: Warp Spider Conversions

Image
"Chuc mung nam moi!" as they same in my adoptive home town, and Happy Year of the Dog as they  say in my actual home village! As part of my continuing Aeldari/Eldar renovation project, I've finally sat down and finished doing the tabletop standard paint job on my Hellion Converted Warp Spiders! If you're looking to convert your own, the bare plastic models can be seen here . These were entirely constructed from the Hellion kit. You can also see from my Basing with Rocks guide a bit more detail on how to put these together. As for the paint job, it was just a dry brush version of my Blood Angel Painting Guide , using Carrabourg Crimson instead of Agrax Earthshade. About as simple as you can get, but missing an awful lot in terms of detail. They will definitely need some blue and green bits added in to tie them to the rest of the army. And for those lore sticklers, yes, they're going to need some soul stones. Until next time! Thank...
