The New Intercessor Veterans Unit Explained! Analysis of their abilities and more

Image
You know, I think Eldar players have every right to be annoyed right now... the Imperium keeps on nicking their stuff. Let me explain... Hello chaps and chapettes, we're back in the classroom to discuss the Eldarification of the Space Marines, and what we can look forward to from the new Intercessor Veterans!  I'm only half joking about the Imperium nicking Eldar ideas and applying it to new models. Primaris Aspect Marines was a joke way back in the beginning of 8th Edition, and I even pointed out some of the similarities (much to the casual disgust of the internet). And I can't be the only one who is marvelling at the new AdMech Swooping Hawk: I'm certainly not comparing the aesthetic of these guys to what's come before, but I think we can definitely draw some parallels to an aeldari unit.  You probably know which one. Yeah that one. If you didn't know already: Now clearly the new Primaris aren't dead souls locked inside tough robot constructs, but I am g...

Aeldar Ranger/Guardian Conversion Gallery

Image
Just a short posy on complete projects before I start on the Blood Angels Beginners guide. Here are the completed Aeldar/Eldar Ranger/Guardian conversions I started a while ago. Rather than model ranger cloaks, I've painted on cloaking fields. Each ranger is in the process of dropping or putting on their field, so the orange and blue of my Craftworld is still there. The model affected by the field is my usual Mechanicus Standard Grey, Nuln Oil, Celestra Grey and Seraphim Sepia combo that I use on all my bases. I'm quite pleased with the camo cloak effect, despite my sloppy painting. The line betwen the two colours was a simple palette; a thick line of watered down Caledor Sky, a thinner line of Baharroth Blue, and a few splodges of White Scar. Looks good! I think there's a little too much orange on the unit as a whole, but otherwise I'm quite pleased with the conversion. Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and ...

Warhammer Symbology: The Meaning of the Chaos Star

Image
WARNING: Contains philosophy and ideas from a Physics teacher. Treat with extreme scepticism (and pity). Warhammer 40K, and the creative sphere it creates, is predominantly a visual medium. Whilst there are models we can pick up, and abstract rules we can endlessly analyse, by far and away the most important aspect of the game is the things we see. This is why you like playing against a fully painted army as opposed to the Plastic Grey Marines. We understand on an instinctive level that people with un-painted armies are not playing the game properly. Since 40K is so heavily informed by visuals, it should come as no surprise that the symbols used are hugely important. I can guarantee that a number of new players are attractied to certain armies simply by the badge they wear, or the aesthetic of their icons. So it might be useful to know what the symbols mean as you go about making Your Dudes(TM). One of the most easily recognised symbols in Warhammer (both 40K and Age of Sigmar...

Aeldar Jetbike Autarch Conversion Gallery

This guy started off as a humble Shining Spear Exarch, but since the rules for 8th Edition Autarch's are quite strong, he got a promotion! Shattered Spear, An Aeldari/Grey Knights Battle Report

Image
Well... that didn't go according to plan. An exercise in not being too over confident in your own abilities, but at the same time a moment of pride as a student finally learns his army. This was a battle I had with a student in the club, and I'm really pleased with the result in a number of ways! However, I'm also now acutely aware of problems in my army list building. The Aeldar Craftworld Wild Riders of the Bright Spear flotilla faced against a small force of the Emperor's Hammer, the Grey Knights of Titan. Here are the forces: The Bright Spear Wild Riders Outrider Detachment (Aeldar Craftworld) Craftworld Attribute: Saim-Hann Wild Host (Re-roll Charges, Bikers can move and shoot Heavy Weapons without penalty) HQ Autarch Skyrunner: Laser Lance (Nova Lance), Twin-linked Shuriken Catapult [108 pts] Farseer Skyrunner: Singing Spear, Twin-linked Shuriken Catapult Psyker: Doom, Fortune, Smite [140 pts] Troops Ranger Squad: 5 Rangers with Long...
