Painting Guide on Faces and Skin

Image
I done another YouTube, but the summary for great skin is here: Ceramite Wite Wash with Reiklnd Fleshshade Highlight with flesh tone of choice For eyes and detailed faces, remember to not be afraid about going back and fixing any mistakes with your highlight colour (with a demonstration in the video). As a blog reader only tip (because you guys are awesome), when using your contrast paints instead of the above method, make sure you always highlight in a traditional way. This will let you clean up any detailing errors without having to do the whole section again. Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment. Sharing this with your friends, and following me on Twitter , Facebook or Google+ would also be hugely appreciated. If you have anything you want me to look at, let me know in the comments below. Sneak peak: How to paint "Space" Wolves

Image
About a subtle as a brick to the face that title. It's been a mad week, with Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, new reporting systems and other events kicking off, hence the total lack of posts. I have been saving this for a while, at least until the Genestealer Cults investigation is complete. I'm unlikely to finish until next week though, so enjoy this small preview of my new "Space Wolf" Great Company colour scheme. Yes, this post and the piece I did on Magnus are two of the forms of suicide on Fenris. I do like how the base green came out, and unlike many similar guides didn't need anything apart from standard Citadel paints. A proper guide is incoming! Until next time! Hopefully! If I can avoid the Sons of Russ a few days longer... Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment. Alpha Legion Metallic Blue and Green Highlights Test Model

Image
Just a few pictures before the next post for the Complete Blood Angels Beginners Guide. Of all the Chaos Space Marine Legions, I'm most drawn to the Alpha Legion (with Sons of Horus being a close second), and I've tried a few times to do their colour scheme justice. Two weeks ago I managed to find a local supplier of Tamia paints, and I picked up some Metallic Blue. The colour is nice, but the paint dried really quickly, and separated out on the pallet extremely quickly as well. I added some thinner, and it seemed to work better. The highlights were done with Stormhost Silver, and then washed over with Waywatcher Green glaze. I also gave the model a pin wash of Drakenhoff Nightshade in the crevices of the armour. I like the effect, but I think the blue metallic paint is a bit of a waste. You can get a similar effect with just washing Drakenhoff Nightshade over Stormhost Silver. You might be able to get a more vibrant blue with Guilliman Blue glaze, but I haven...

Aeldar Ranger/Guardian Conversion Gallery

Image
Just a short posy on complete projects before I start on the Blood Angels Beginners guide. Here are the completed Aeldar/Eldar Ranger/Guardian conversions I started a while ago. Rather than model ranger cloaks, I've painted on cloaking fields. Each ranger is in the process of dropping or putting on their field, so the orange and blue of my Craftworld is still there. The model affected by the field is my usual Mechanicus Standard Grey, Nuln Oil, Celestra Grey and Seraphim Sepia combo that I use on all my bases. I'm quite pleased with the camo cloak effect, despite my sloppy painting. The line betwen the two colours was a simple palette; a thick line of watered down Caledor Sky, a thinner line of Baharroth Blue, and a few splodges of White Scar. Looks good! I think there's a little too much orange on the unit as a whole, but otherwise I'm quite pleased with the conversion. Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and ...

Work in progress: Project G'undam T'au Mu'Gulath Bay Army Gallery

Image
I feel like "Bay" should have an apostrophe somewhere... Not much of a gallery, but some work in progress pictures. It looks remarkably cohesive as a force, considering the complicated colours on the Commander and Riptide. The white and reds help the G'undam suits to stand out in the blue. Better look at the G'undam style shield generator, and a comparison with the regular Crisis suit. Until next time! Thanks for reading. Work in Progress: Project G'undam T'au Riptide and Commander Gallery

Just a quick update on  project G'undam. The base layers and washes are done. So far, I really like them! And after shading and washes... For information on the paints used, have a look on my previous post . Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment. T'au Mu'gulath Bay Cadre Fireblade Conversion Gallery

Image
Finishing off a conversion job I started a long time ago , the Cadre Fireblade is complete just in time for the release of the 8th Edition T'au Codex. My Mu'gulath Bay T'au are unlike most other sept worlders. Having been subjected to the worst Exterminatus inflicted by the Imperium, as well as being the target of a huge crusade and focal point for the literal ripping of space-time into the warp, the Mu'gulath T'au in my army are not the happiest bunnies in the Empire. None more so than this Fireblade, who has felt some distinctly un-Greater Good feelings stirring in his chest after seeing his universe literally torn apart around him. His armour is whispered to have been ripped from a Space Marine in single combat, and loaded with the usual suites and devices available to a Fireblade. Crippled from a suicidal charge a Leman Russ mounted Knight Commander with a sack of EMP grenades, he now rides a modified drone to battle. At his core he is still a T'au...

Primaris Space Marine Field Police Inceptor Gallery

Image
I be sick. Beyond man-flu sick, to actual sick. This is why I haven't updated the blog in a few days. That's not to say I took time of school work willingly. It got to Thursday before my boss threatened to call in sick for me, and drag me off to the school medical centre. So I took that day off. I snuck in on Friday though, and taught my classes. If you're wondering why, setting and marking cover work is just not worth the day off. Anyway, last week I finished off my Space Marine Field Police Inceptors. Here they are: The pose on the right Inceptor was a structural decision more than an artistic one. The poor guy kept slipping off of his mounting, so I glued him in by the foot as well. Makes for a lovely dynamic pose. I've spent way too much time writing up back story for these guys, but they finally have the mesh between fluff (lore), crunch (rules), and style (painting) that I've been looking for. I'll let you know what that is soon....

Aeldar Jetbike Autarch Conversion Gallery

Image
This guy started off as a humble Shining Spear Exarch, but since the rules for 8th Edition Autarch's are quite strong, he got a promotion! I feel like it's missing something, but can't put my finger on it... Until next time! Thanks for reading. If you liked what you saw, and you want to help out, please leave a comment.
