Half-orruk Stormcast Eternal

Image
When you like the idea of Stormcast Eternals, but still want to be a special snowflake: Half-orruk Stormcast Eternal battling mixed race Khorne Bloodbound... do you even Diversity bro? Just a test piece to see if I like the colour scheme. I'm happy with the concept, but the gold and green are a bit meh. I think I might reverse the colours to more of a Salamander Space Marine scheme. In terms of fluff, well, Age of Sigmar gives us many opportunities to break lore in the name of Your Dudes. My new Stormcast chambers could be made entirely of orc heroes who have been Reforged. They could have been infected by WAAAGGHH!! magic. They could even have more sinister undertones of being part of a genuine half-orruk race of humans who live in the Beast Realm. Mostly I like the idea of subverting the paladin theme the Stormcast have, and having an excuse to shout WAAGGHH!! on the tabletop again. Until next time! Thanks for reading. This year I've decided to get into more external competitions, and I'm starting with the local Games Workshop Brushido competition. Warhammer 40K, Painting Tip: Watching Paint dry

Image
Just a quick one today. As a Physics teacher I have access to some interesting tools to help speed up the painting process. Here's one: I wonder if any one else has some every day or work place device they use to help them with table top gaming. I'd love to see some ideas! Thanks for reading. Warhammer, How to run a club: Battle Boards

Image
Last time I talked about terrain it was how to make individual bits or movable terrain out of cardboard. However, despite the new terrain feature certainly enlivening matches, club members were still playing on the good old wooden varnish planet with curiously urban rock formations. It's miles better than the Battle of the Coke Can Forest, but we're still not done yet. My lab technician is an amazing help at school. He's ridiculously well qualified for the role, and is basically working as a tech for retirement. He's one of those old school engineers who will tend to disappear into a shed with a problem and come out of it with a bolted up solution freshly varnished and smelling of ingenuity. He scrounged up a few old cupboards and gave them to me. Sometimes I think he's watching and assessing my ability to come out of sheds with solutions. Hopefully the end product will do him proud! First step: Planning. My initial plan was to make them in...

Warhammer, Useful Links: Warhammer Community

Image
Just a quick one today. Warhammer Community was launched today. It looks like a good site, and even has a little rumour section. At a slightly more selfish note, I hope they eventually put up a sections to find Warhammer Blogs. I really started off in the EVE Online community, and they had a list of Blog fan sites, which made it much easier to get into the meta surrounding the game. Would be nice to have a similar thing on the Warhammer Community site to really tie together all the blogs out there. I feel kind of bad for leaving it at that, so here's a quick Work in Progress picture of yet another project I'm running. I run a lot of projects at a time... Thanks for reading. Warhammer 40K, How to guide: Testing paint schemes

Image
Once in a while you'll get inspired to make an army. It can either be a nice piece of lore you read, or a real world army you saw in action. Usually it's because someone on the internet did something, and you know you can do it better. Regardless, the outcome is usually the same. You run off to the Games Workshop shop, spend far too much money, buy all the wrong paints, and everything ends up on eBay before the end of the week. Once in a while you get lucky, and your creation gets folded into the 40K canon or gets models specifically produced for it by Forgeworld. Here's how you make sure you get the second result. Test your paint scheme before hand on a bit of old sprue. Have a look below for a desert colour scheme I'm testing now. I want to work with Zamesi Desert, for no other reason than it has desert in the name. It's also quite a nice shade of beige/yellow, and as far as I know, no other army uses it. Okay, Tallarn desert raiders, failed...
