Suspicious activity: New Ork Boyz kit inbound?

I have a spare few minutes waiting for my Scarf catalogue to print out, and just popped on over to see how Orktober is going. I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the orkiness of the month until about a week ago.

Now with Klan Kultures revealed and new trukks and gubbinz leaking all over the interwebz, I feel my WAAAAGGHHH!!! rising in a way only fandom marketing and advertising can do. Well done Games Workshop Ad' Ladz!

What's caught my eye is the sudden disappearance of Boyz from the Games Workshop website. Even the Start Collecting Kit has vanished, and so I'm guessing some new kit is inbound. This would explain why the ork Kill Team box set has featured Burna Boys, instead of the standard Troops choice everyone else gets.

The good side? Well, new models are always nice and the old kits were rather busy models for a horde army. Not a bad thing to have detail on a model, but for a  model that actually might die to a lasgun shot it was an awful lot of effort. This would be a good opportunity to simplify the design a bit, and possibly more in line with the jagged, yet panelled nature of the Age of Sigmar Iron Jawz.

The downside? You know how the T'au Firewarrior kit is £30 for a 70 point unit? That. I can see the Ork boy kit easily being one of the worst points:pound ratios out there.

Overall I'm enthusiastic for Orktober, and am hoping for some good news in the next few days. We'll see.

(Also still alive guys... I had a mild touch of death earlier this week on top of everything else that's happened, but hopefully will be back to normal posting by the end of the month. At least until the Christmas season starts. Next month.)

Until next time!

  1. I believe the disappearance is due to the change from 25mm to 32mm bases like we saw with the Kill Team kits. I really don't think we'll see upgraded Ork Boyz on top of the new buggies.

    1. Yup, this. Ork Boyz are back on the site as a Pre-Order with the bigger bases. The Start Collecting kit is still temporarily out of stock, but will probably be back up soon. That was a whole day of suspense for nothing!

Still, I'm glad they remain a cheapish box set, and the models still look good to me.
